Oceanography explores Earth's seas, examining their currents, physical and chemical characteristics, and marine ecosystems. This interdisciplinary field brings together physical, biological, and chemical experts to comprehend oceanic systems, their influence on worldwide climate patterns, and effects on human populations. Professionals address critical issues like maritime safety, sustainable fisheries, wastewater management, and coastal recreation. Researchers analyze seawater properties, marine biodiversity, seabed formations, and the ocean's relationship with global systems. Combining knowledge from biology, physics, chemistry, and geology, oceanography represents a comprehensive scientific discipline. Specializations include marine biology, wave dynamics, seafloor formation, and marine chemistry, with applications in climate research, navigation safety, and food security. Students may pursue focused research through specialized Honours programs.
