Delve into media and contemporary cultures, worldwide cultural research, and analytical cultural theories with classes covering digital culture, cinema and TV, social movements, internationalization, civil liberties, and beyond. You'll complete the program equipped with versatile expertise applicable to numerous career paths. The Cultural Studies program provides a cross-disciplinary perspective on conventional humanities and social sciences, prompting you to investigate particular topics like the formation of racial, gender, national, socioeconomic, and sexual identities, matters of societal transformation, and power dynamics. You'll analyze how various academic fields generate understanding and test alternative methods of knowledge creation that could create tangible effects. For instance, a student enrolled in an upper-level documentary studies class might create a brief written analysis and upload a self-produced video to YouTube instead of submitting a conventional research paper.
