The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides graduate programs awarding Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Medical Sciences with a focus on Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Our graduate studies feature diverse research options in women's health. Candidates for both MSc and PhD degrees can apply directly to our programs, with the additional opportunity to simultaneously apply for the selective Graduate Program in Maternal and Child Health (MatCH). Dr. Denise Hemmings, a Professor in Reproductive Sciences, oversees the Obstetrics & Gynecology Graduate Program.
Many faculty members hold joint appointments with fundamental medical science departments such as Physiology, Medical Microbiology & Immunology, and Oncology. Students may also pursue MSc or PhD degrees through these affiliated departments.
Candidates must hold a undergraduate degree with an admission GPA of at least 3.2 on the 4-point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification and standing from a recognized institution. The admission GPA will be calculated on the last ?60 of graded coursework completed, or on the equivalent of the last two years of full-time graded coursework.
