Join one of our research teams collaborating with government and community partners to perform policy and program-focused studies designed to improve outcomes for children, youth, and families - especially vulnerable populations like older adults and individuals with chronic illnesses or disabilities. Our thesis programs focus on developing research skills for students pursuing careers in policy, community-based, or laboratory research, or those planning to enter doctoral programs. Alongside required coursework, thesis students must complete an independent, original research project.
The Department of Human Ecology provides a PhD in Human Ecology, along with master's programs in Textiles and Clothing, Material Culture, Family Ecology and Practice, and Aging. Our diverse student body enters various professional fields after graduation, including social services, museums, cultural organizations, government, research, and education.
