Over the past twenty years, multimedia R&D has accelerated dramatically due to breakthroughs in hardware, software, and networking technologies. Although images and videos remain fundamental components, emerging technologies like motion capture, smart sensors, multi-view systems, haptic interfaces, and 3D television introduce novel complexities in areas such as multimedia processing efficiency, task management, mobile real-time communication, multi-stream synchronization, human-computer interaction, large-scale data retrieval, and mobile display enhancement.
