The Department of Economics provides a course-based Master of Arts degree, including a specialized track in Economics and Finance, along with a thesis-focused PhD program.
Economics students can explore diverse fields such as Applied Econometrics, Development Economics, Environmental and Resource Economics, Financial Economics, Industrial Organization, International Economics, Labor Economics, Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, and Public Economics. Note that not all specializations may be available every academic year.
Our MA alumni pursuing further studies have been admitted to PhD programs at institutions like the Universities of Alberta, Calgary, Toronto, and Western Ontario. PhD graduates have secured academic positions at Mount Royal University, MacEwan University, Wilfred Laurier University, and the University of Regina, as well as roles within provincial and federal government agencies.
