Our graduate program employs an apprenticeship approach to cultivate highly skilled, autonomous researchers poised to advance the field of psychology. Spatial Cognition & Navigation - explores how humans interpret environmental information for orientation and movement. Studies investigate object/scene recognition, wayfinding abilities, geographic reasoning, and the acquisition of navigation skills.
Memory & Language - examines the mechanisms of autobiographical memory and how linguistic expression, both formal and informal, interacts with memory formation and recall.
Spatial Decision-Support Systems - this practical application of cognitive science creates innovative technologies to enhance search/rescue missions and assist navigation in unfamiliar settings.
Concepts & Categorization - investigates the fundamental mental frameworks that organize our understanding of the world, studying how we acquire, store, and apply conceptual knowledge.
