Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology examines workplace behavior and interactions. I-O psychologists focus on areas like talent acquisition, employee development, performance evaluation systems, workplace equity, staff motivation, team dynamics, leadership development, and worker satisfaction.
The University of Guelph's I-O Psychology program stands out in Canada for its equal emphasis on academic research and practical application. This dual focus makes our graduates particularly attractive to both educational institutions and corporate employers.
Our faculty actively conducts fundamental and applied research, while our graduate students consistently earn recognition for their scholarly work. Essentially, we're advancing workplace psychology knowledge to enhance both business outcomes and employee experiences. Additionally, our program proudly participates in the ERASMUS MUNDUS initiative - the Masters in Work, Organizational, and Personnel Psychology program, facilitating student exchanges with European institutions (including those in France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain; more information available). Practically, students gain hands-on experience through specialized courses and actual consulting projects with Organization & Management Solutions.
