The Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs in Statistical Machine Learning are offered collaboratively between the Department of Computing Science and the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. This program focuses on the theoretical foundations for developing and evaluating machine learning algorithms through statistical and computational approaches.
Prospective students may apply through either the Department of Computing Science or the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. The chosen department serves as the student's primary academic home, granting the degree and managing program administration. The Statistical Machine Learning program concentrates on theoretical principles for creating and assessing machine learning methods using statistical and computer science techniques. Alternatively, applicants may select the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences for program participation.
