This program offers an overview of the physics challenges involved in nanoscale engineering. You'll access extensive resources, such as the Micromachining and Nanofabrication Facility and the new undergraduate nanotechnology laboratory. Students can enroll in this degree through the Co-op (cooperative education) option, which includes paid, supervised work placements during your studies. The Co-op program allows you to push your limits, acquire practical experience, and build industry relationships before graduation. Typically, co-op programs consist of five four-month work terms alongside the standard eight academic terms (four years) of full-time coursework, extending the total duration to five years.

Qualification Requirements

English is the primary language of instruction in all Faculties except Facult Saint-Jean. All undergraduate applicants to any program or course except Facult Saint-Jean need an adequate level of English language proficiency before admission, regardless of their citizenship status or country of origin. The University of Alberta reserves the right to use discretion in determining adequate levels of language proficiency to ensure success in academic programs.
Graduation from a recognized degree program offered by an accredited university at which English is the primary language of instruction or in a country where English is the primary language.
A score of at least 90 on the TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language - Internet-based) with no less than 21 on each band.
A score of at least 6.5 on the IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System) with no band less than 6.0.
A score of at least 70 on the Canadian Academic English Language assessment: CAEL (paper) or CAEL CE (computer) with no band less than 60.
A score of at least 61 on the PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) with no less than 60 in each communicative skill.
