This program offers an overview of nanotechnology fundamentals, covering electronics, electromagnetics, and photonics at the nanoscale. Students who choose this path will explore nanoscale fabrication techniques and master computer-aided design tools for analyzing ultra-miniaturized systems. Specializing in materials smaller than one micrometre (0.000001 meters), nanotechnology enables countless consumer and industrial innovations, from enhancing computing power to improving water purification in isolated regions. Qualification Requirements

English is the primary language of instruction in all Faculties except Facult Saint-Jean. All undergraduate applicants to any program or course except Facult Saint-Jean need an adequate level of English language proficiency before admission, regardless of their citizenship status or country of origin. The University of Alberta reserves the right to use discretion in determining adequate levels of language proficiency to ensure success in academic programs.
Graduation from a recognized degree program offered by an accredited university at which English is the primary language of instruction or in a country where English is the primary language.
A score of at least 90 on the TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language - Internet-based) with no less than 21 on each band.
A score of at least 6.5 on the IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System) with no band less than 6.0.
A score of at least 70 on the Canadian Academic English Language assessment: CAEL (paper) or CAEL CE (computer) with no band less than 60.
