Chemical Engineers play a crucial role in converting raw materials into sustainable, safer, and cutting-edge products across industries like energy, food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. As one of engineering's most adaptable fields, Chemical Engineering merges principles from chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, design, and process engineering.
During the initial two years of study, all engineering students participate in the Core Engineering Program, available at both Halifax's Sexton Campus and Truro's Agricultural Campus. The curriculum covers fundamental subjects in mathematics, science, engineering principles, and design, establishing a comprehensive engineering background.
After completing first year, students may apply to one of six specialized engineering programs, including Chemical Engineering. Admission to specific disciplines is competitive and determined by first-year academic achievements.
In the third year, students focus on their chosen specialization and have the option to integrate co-operative education into their degree program.
