Our program provides training in multiple widely-spoken languages that students can choose as either a major or minor within a Bachelor of Secondary Education degree. Each language specialization focuses not just on developing fundamental communication skills, but also fosters cultural awareness and historical understanding of the language's origins. Teaching represents a profound vocation, and we're committed to shaping educators who will leave a lasting impact on their students. Through our Faculty of Education's Secondary Education curriculum, you'll gain the skills to inspire curiosity and share knowledge across various subjects with middle and high school learners (grades 7-12). The program lets you personalize your academic journey by selecting two focus areas - a primary specialization and secondary concentration.

The Secondary Education curriculum features two practical teaching components: a five-week Introductory Professional Term (IPT) followed by a more intensive nine-week Advanced Professional Term (APT). Students typically instruct in their primary specialization during both terms. While designed as a four-year undergraduate program, it's also available as a post-degree option. Graduates will qualify for Alberta teaching certification upon successful completion of the program.
