Our program provides training in multiple widely-spoken languages that students can choose as a primary or secondary focus within their Bachelor of Secondary Education. Each language specialization focuses not just on fundamental communication skills, but also explores the rich cultural heritage and historical context behind each tongue. Teaching is more than a profession—it's a vocation, and we're committed to shaping educators who will leave a lasting impact on their students. Through our Faculty of Education's Secondary Education curriculum, you'll gain the skills to inspire curiosity and knowledge in grades 7-12 across various subjects. You'll select two concentration areas—a primary and secondary focus—to tailor your educational journey to your interests.

The Secondary Education curriculum features two practical teaching components: a five-week Introductory Professional Term (IPT) and a more intensive nine-week Advanced Professional Term (APT). Students typically instruct in their primary subject area during both terms. While designed as a four-year course, this program also accommodates those pursuing it as a post-degree qualification. Graduates will qualify for Alberta teaching certification upon successful completion.
