Students pursuing the Elementary degree follow a Generalist curriculum designed to equip them with the skills to teach all core elementary subjects. Rather than specializing in one discipline like Secondary Education, you'll gain broad expertise across multiple areas. The teaching profession is a vocation, and elementary educators play a uniquely important role. Our Bachelor of Education (Elementary) program in the Faculty of Education trains you to support children's learning from Kindergarten through Grade 6 in today's diverse, multicultural classrooms.

The Elementary Education curriculum features both a five-week Introductory Professional Term (IPT) and a nine-week Advanced Professional Term (APT). You can complete this program as either a standard four-year degree or as an after-degree. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Education (BEd) and qualify for Alberta teacher certification.
