The Biology Department at TWU prepares students to excel and take leadership roles in biotechnology, health sciences, ecology, and environmental conservation.
By joining our Biology program, you'll nurture your scientific curiosity while making a positive societal impact. You'll explore pressing issues like emerging diseases, environmental sustainability, and genomics. TWU provides comprehensive training in both scientific principles and ethical considerations from a Christian perspective, preparing you for careers in healthcare, research, or education. Our accomplished biology professors combine their specialized knowledge, passion for teaching, and Christian values in every classroom. As a student, you'll collaborate with faculty on pioneering research in areas including cellular biology, genetics, ecological studies, and medical microbiology. This immersive research experience, combined with our challenging coursework, opens doors to prestigious medical, dental, veterinary, and graduate programs globally. With intentionally small classes, you'll benefit from personalized guidance and faculty mentorship for research projects. We prioritize practical learning at every stage, ensuring you gain extensive laboratory experience early in your studies. Biology students can also enroll in field study courses, such as botany and ecology, offered in locations like BC's Gulf Islands and Hawaii.
Students must have standing in five subjects of which at least two must be taken at the Advanced level.
The following equivalents will be considered:
School Certificate: same as GCE with at least two passes at the principal level of the Higher School Certificate.
Certificate of matriculation from recognized universities.
International Baccalaureate with at least two subjects at the higher level.
Other countries: write or email the Admissions Office for information.
Applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency in both oral and written academic English:
TOEFL (Test of English Foreign Language Internet-Based Test): Overall Score: 88 with a minimum score of 21 in each of the four areas and a TWE of at least 5.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System (Academic)): Overall score: 6.5 with 6.0 on Writing Band
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment): Overall score: 70
