TWU's Sociology program offers a unique chance to align your academic pursuits with your personal values to drive meaningful societal impact.
As a sociology student, you'll develop the expertise to analyze individuals and modern society. Our distinguished professors specialize in diverse fields including cultural studies, racial and ethnic relations, social stratification, family dynamics, religious influences, and societal transformation. The program also allows students to pursue a Human Services certificate, which emphasizes practical applications through various internship options in service-oriented fields. These placements span government agencies, NGOs, both for-profit and non-profit entities, as well as faith-based institutions. Additionally, students can spend a semester at Ottawa's Laurentian Leadership Center, combining academic coursework with valuable professional experience. The program further provides an optional Gender Studies minor, enabling students to explore gender's societal significance, its institutional structures across cultures, Western perspectives on gender, and its historical development through different eras.
