Mount Royal University offers an innovative four-year program centered on children and youth, blending progressive academic study with hands-on experiential learning in early childhood education and youth care. This unique curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Unlike conventional programs, the Bachelor of Child Studies develops versatile professionals ready to champion the needs of children, youth, and families, or continue their education at graduate level. As the sole provider of this comprehensive four-year degree in Western Canada, Mount Royal University takes pride in this distinctive offering.
Students can choose between two specialized majors, both designed to foster collaborative approaches and community leadership capabilities. The Bachelor of Child Studies program prepares graduates with both theoretical understanding and practical expertise to positively impact young lives as educators, mentors, counselors, or leaders in their field.
High school: High School applicants must present five Grade 12 level courses for admission. Included in these five courses, applicants must present the required subjects for their intended program of choice. The specific courses required for your program count towards your Group A courses. The additional subject(s) which may be presented for admission include the following courses from Group A, B, or C. High School/Secondary and/or Post-secondary (transferable to MRU) courses 2 years of full-time study in English (see list of English-speaking countries below) and English Language Arts 30 – 1 (equivalent)
