History isn't just about remembering dates, conflicts, and figures—it delves into the context behind events, individuals, and civilizations. This discipline explores our past and how it shaped today's social, cultural, and environmental landscapes. Our Canadian undergraduate World History program stands among the most comprehensive, offering diverse courses across all academic levels. We move beyond textbooks, incorporating music, films, artwork, cartography, and artifacts to immerse students in historical study. Our passionate historian professors thrive on investigating fresh subjects and learning alongside students through intimate, discussion-driven classes that prioritize dialogue and critical thinking.
Innovative theme-based courses cover subjects ranging from culinary traditions to racial dynamics, athletics, and civic participation.
All lectures are delivered by professors—never teaching assistants—ensuring instruction from field specialists.
Advanced students can facilitate seminars on their research interests.
We provide both credit-bearing and extracurricular hands-on learning experiences aligned with academic and professional goals.
Students gain from faculty specialization in areas including American and comparative urban history, worldwide sports and tourism history, Ethiopian and African studies, racial dynamics, modern European and German history, authoritarian regimes, and the history of citizenship and trade goods.
