This one-year intensive program emphasizes practical skills for careers in animal care, with significant hands-on experience working directly with animals. Participants master safe handling techniques while learning to conduct physical exams and administer treatments. Students gain real-world experience by operating the SLC "Scruffy Dog Salon," where they groom dogs under professional supervision. The curriculum also covers surgical assistance training and fundamental clinical lab procedures used in diagnosing and treating domestic animals.

Complementary Studies
The coursework includes animal health, behavior management, and general care for various species (including cats, dogs, exotic pets, wildlife, and livestock), along with dog grooming fundamentals and essential lab skills. Additional training covers computer applications, office management, and effective communication and marketing strategies.
Graduates enter the workforce equipped to enhance both service quality and range for animal care providers and pet owners alike.
