This Ontario College Certificate program equips students with the skills to deliver personal care and support services to individuals and families. Personal Support Workers may assist with household tasks, organize social and recreational activities, and enhance health and wellness for clients across all life stages.
The curriculum aligns with standards set by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, addressing the growing educational requirements for PSW graduates entering today's varied health and social care landscape.
As unregulated healthcare providers, Personal Support Workers operate within care teams under the guidance of regulated health professionals or supervisors, or follow client directives in independent living settings.
The SLC PSW Program features more than 400 clinical placement hours, including 240 hours supervised by Degree Nurses and RPNs at a 1:6 instructor-to-student ratio. Placements span hospital settings (acute, restorative, and palliative care), long-term care facilities, community care, and two elective placements - all designed to make graduates "Career Ready" with comprehensive practical experience.
An added benefit: credits earned in the PSW program may transfer if you pursue an RPN or other college program. This accredited program demands dedication to excel as a top-tier PSW professional.
