This three-year program is nationally recognized for developing highly competent graduates who seamlessly transition into biomedical research or veterinary clinic environments. Students receive comprehensive scientific education combined with hands-on laboratory and veterinary technical training tailored to modern workplace demands. Upon completion, graduates qualify for registration with both the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT) and the Canadian Association for Laboratory Animal Science (CALASACSAL). In their final year, students can take the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) and CALASACSAL national certification tests.
St. Lawrence College operates under the Animals for Research Act (ARA) license granted by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA). The college also holds Good Animal Practice (GAP) accreditation from the Canadian Council of Animal Care (CCAC). Our institution maintains an operational Animal Care Committee (ACC), with all instructional animal use carefully documented through ACC-approved Animal Use Protocols (AUP).
