The Women's and Gender Studies program at StFX offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate education that examines gender through scholarly research and community engagement. This program teaches students to analyze gender as a key framework while reflecting on its role in personal experiences. It investigates how gender intersects with race, class, ability, and sexuality in both daily life and broader societal contexts. Additionally, the program highlights the academic and real-world impact of Women's and Gender Studies scholarship.
Students can pursue various degree options including: a BA Honours with an arts subsidiary, a BA Major, a Joint Major combining Women's and Gender Studies with another arts discipline, or a Subsidiary/Minor concentration. As outlined in chapter 4, Arts, Business, and Science students can complete a paired program in Women's and Gender Studies. Prospective students are encouraged to meet with the program Co-ordinator early in their academic planning.
