Anthropology examines humanity from a broad perspective. While other academic fields like sociology analyze human societies, medicine investigates the physical body, and philosophy explores thought processes, anthropology incorporates insights from all these areas while offering its own unique viewpoint. As an Anthropology student at StFX, you'll examine human societies through a critical lens, investigating their evolution and patterns of behavior. Our outstanding faculty will help you develop analytical skills to understand societal development, cultural diversity, and the distinctive characteristics that set humans apart from other species.

The Joint Major option enables you to pair Anthropology with another field of study, with both disciplines reflected in your degree. Potential specialization combinations include:

Aquatic Resources
Celtic Studies
Development Studies
English
History
Philosophy
Political Science
Psychology
Sociology
Women's Studies
