Anthropology examines humanity from diverse perspectives. While other academic fields like sociology analyze human societies, medical science investigates the physical body, and philosophy explores human cognition, anthropology synthesizes insights from these areas while offering its own unique viewpoint. As an Anthropology student at StFX, you'll examine societal structures while probing essential questions about how human communities evolve and function. Distinguished professors will mentor you in critically analyzing societal development, investigating cultural variations, and determining what distinguishes humans from other species.

The rigorous demands of advanced anthropology attract high-achieving students to the Honours program. This intensive track requires 60 credits of anthropology coursework plus a thesis. Ideal for those pursuing graduate studies (M.A. or Ph.D.) or applying anthropological knowledge in professional settings, the Honours degree offers significant advantages:

Broader course selection and deeper anthropological exploration
Stronger program engagement
Increased interaction with fellow Anthropology students
Personalized faculty mentorship for thesis development
Enhanced recognition by employers and graduate institutions compared to Major or Advanced Major degrees
