Anthropology bridges the gap between sciences and humanities, offering scientific rigor in studying human culture while maintaining humanistic depth. It encompasses socio-cultural, linguistic, physical anthropology, and archaeology to comprehensively study human evolution and societies. As a holistic field, it integrates these diverse perspectives to fully grasp human existence. CBU's program pushes students to question their cultural assumptions by exploring contrasting lifestyles and belief systems, fostering innovative approaches to human flourishing. The curriculum emphasizes self-reflection, prompting students to analyze their personal narratives within broader global contexts, cultivating cultural awareness and global citizenship. Recognized by Nova Scotia's education authorities, anthropology qualifies as a teachable discipline.

Our program delivers anthropology through four foundational approaches. Instructors bring expertise across specialties including medical anthropology, archaeological research, evolutionary studies, tourism anthropology, Mi'kmaw language studies, linguistic preservation, and Indigenous language education. This extensive faculty research portfolio exposes students to anthropology's dynamic applications, demonstrating the discipline's relevance to contemporary issues and diverse cultural contexts.
