This program caters to students pursuing careers in greenhouse operations. Spanning two years, it blends classroom instruction, lab sessions, and greenhouse tours. In their second year, students can choose between two specialized tracks. A culminating capstone project requires students to integrate knowledge from all coursework and practical placements.
Participants will gain essential skills for roles as Greenhouse Technicians in various operations, including vertical farms and container farming systems producing vegetables, flowers, fruits, and microgreens. Career prospects include positions in greenhouse production, grower roles (assistant/head), pest control specialists, supervisory/management positions, and logistics teams. Graduates may find employment in Ontario's greenhouse industry or related support services like supply companies, manufacturers, logistics firms, and government agencies.
