Graduates of the Developmental Services Worker program are trained to assist individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities across all age groups, helping them navigate various aspects of community living. The curriculum emphasizes community engagement, interpersonal and counseling techniques, positive behavior reinforcement strategies, essential life skills instruction, as well as mental health interventions and medication management.
Career Pathways
Entry-level roles commonly available include positions at community organizations, school-based educational assistants, family support specialists, and recreation aides. With strong job market demand, graduates can explore diverse opportunities, including self-employment options. Many students secure part-time employment even before completing their studies.
A University Degree in Humanities or Social Science with at least one course in Introductory Psychology and Developmental Psychology or a Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Educational Support, or Liberal Arts.
English Proficiency Requirements:
IELTS overall band of 6.0.
PTE (Pearson Test of English) minimum score 60
TOEFL overall 83.
CAEL minimum score 60
CELPIP General 7.0 in each module.
