This one-year certificate program equips students with skills for careers in precision machining and tooling industries. Upon completion, graduates earn their 429A General Machinist Level 1 apprenticeship equivalency. High-achieving students can seamlessly transition into the second year of either the Mechanical Engineering Technician - Industrial diploma program (T855) or the second semester of the Mechanical Technician - CADCAM program (T867).
Career Pathways
Mechanical Technician - Precision Metal Cutting graduates can pursue roles in metal cutting trades (Machining, Tool & Die, Mould Making) as general machinists, mould makers, or tool and die makers, with opportunities to begin apprenticeships. The precision machining sector serves diverse industries such as aerospace, automotive, consumer goods, construction, forestry, kitchen manufacturing, oil and gas, and pharmaceuticals. Job opportunities exist throughout Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, and other key regions in Southwestern Ontario.
