The Urban Studies Graduate Program provides two degree options: the Graduate Diploma in Urban Studies (GDUS) and the Master of Urban Studies (MURB). Students can pursue either program on a part-time or full-time basis. Part-time enrollment usually means completing one 4-unit seminar each term, while full-time students typically enroll in two seminars per term, totaling six (6) or more units. The majority of classes meet weekly for four-hour evening sessions at SFU's Vancouver campus.
Understanding cities in their full complexity – encompassing social, economic, environmental and political dimensions – is essential for creating a sustainable future worldwide.
We develop urban professionals. Through our two interdisciplinary graduate programs, we blend academic rigor with practical training, equipping graduates with versatile skills, comprehensive knowledge, and the adaptability required to address contemporary urban issues.
