The MA program mandates 30 units to graduate, with at least 18 units from designated coursework, plus an original thesis and its oral defense. The Course, Practicum and Project Option has been discontinued, though thesis-track students can still incorporate practicum experiences and applied evaluation research. Program completion is typically achieved within 6 terms (2 years).
Criminology master's candidates have diverse pathways available. While some opt for the conventional coursework-and-thesis route, others may integrate practicum opportunities or focus on applied evaluation research.

The program requires coursework and an original thesis, with students needing to secure a primary advisor. This path commonly leads graduates toward PhD studies or careers in research, policy analysis, or academia.
