Studying English means discovering how literature remains the most powerful lens for comprehending diverse global cultures. When you learn with us, you're taught by professors who've earned more teaching honors than any other SFU department, while simultaneously producing extensive academic works and critically acclaimed creative writing. Choosing English literature at SFU equips you with analytical reasoning skills, exposes you to extraordinary texts, and immerses you in transformative discussions that will reshape your perspective permanently.
Within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, our English department provides major and minor options, plus specialized certificates in creative writing and writing/rhetoric. Students can begin this program at either our Burnaby or Surrey locations.
If you've completed, or are about to complete, your grade 12 or senior year in a Canadian, American, or international high school.
