This program culminates in a Bachelor of Arts degree. The contemporary arts field features dynamic discussions regarding both the interpretation and importance of artistic works, as well as their connections with audiences and broader cultural contexts. The curriculum examines art and culture while focusing on evolving historical perspectives of class, gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, and aesthetic principles. Students gain essential knowledge, research abilities, and communication techniques to actively engage in current artistic and cultural dialogues. The foundational curriculum offers two introductory studio courses across various disciplines, allowing students to explore creative processes in dance, music, theater, video, or visual arts. While maintaining an interdisciplinary approach, the program also fosters an appreciation for the unique characteristics of different art forms. Beyond the core requirements, students enjoy flexible course options and are encouraged to tailor their academic journey within the school or across the wider university.
