The Department of Archaeology within the Faculty of Environment stands as British Columbia's sole university department focused exclusively on archaeological studies, education, and community engagement. Our faculty and resources facilitate comprehensive learning in both classroom and lab settings, covering topics from ancient to historical archaeology, Cultural Resource Management, Museum Studies, Human Evolution, and Physical Anthropology. We place strong importance on practical fieldwork, archaeological investigations, and theoretical methodologies. Through our Archaeology Honours program, dedicated high-achieving students can undertake an intensive research year under faculty guidance, culminating in an Honours Thesis.
