The eight-month Art Fundamentals (AFD) certificate course offers comprehensive training in both traditional and digital art techniques. Structured to develop artistic abilities, design proficiency, creative thinking, and analytical skills, AFD serves as excellent preparation for advanced studies and professional opportunities in animation, illustration, and graphic design. Students benefit from practical instruction led by experienced artists currently active in the field. This foundational program provides the essential skills needed to transition into more specialized art disciplines.
After finishing the program, graduates will be ready to continue their education in communication arts or fine arts, opening doors to various career possibilities within the visual arts sector.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with:
Grade 12 English: ENG4(U) or ENG4(C)
OR
Mature Student Status (age 19 or older) with required course(s), their equivalent(s), or appropriate Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Certificate program credits (see Academic Upgrading).

Cambridge English Exams (B2 First/FCE, C1 Advanced/CAE or C2 Proficiency/CPE): Minimum 169 with no skill below 162
Duolingo: Minimum score 105 to 110
IELTS Academic: Minimum 6.0 with no skill below 5.5
PTE Academic: Minimum score 58
TOEFL iBT (including MyBest TOEFL and Home Edition): Minimum 80 with no skill below 20
TOEFL Revised Paper Delivered: No skill below 20
