Over three years in this advanced diploma, you'll explore highway, municipal, and building design principles, geotechniques, soil mechanics, building codes, and gain expertise in materials testing and surveying. You'll also master industry-standard software like AutoCAD, MicroSurvey, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and other specialized tools for building, municipal, or transportation fields. The program culminates with capstone projects and technical reports, completed individually or in teams, showcasing the diverse skills you've developed.
To succeed in this program, students must earn at least a "C" grade (60%) in the Strength of Materials course.
The Civil Engineering Technology (CVT) program emphasizes practical, hands-on learning. To simulate real-world scenarios, indoor and outdoor lab courses will require proper safety gear and personal protective equipment (PPE). Students should be prepared for physical tasks like lifting heavy materials and navigating varied outdoor terrain and weather conditions.
