This program follows Seneca's hybrid learning model, combining online coursework with in-person clinical practicums and simulation sessions. Students must attend campus for scheduled simulation activities and other face-to-face learning components as specified. Seneca provides a specialized pathway for RPNs to transition into its Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing degree. The Bridge to BScN program equips practicing Practical Nurses with the advanced foundational knowledge needed to manage more complex patient cases within the Registered Nurse scope of practice, while preparing graduates for the NCLEX-RN licensing examination.
Ontario college graduates with a two-year Practical Nursing diploma can advance directly to Semester 5 (Year 3) of the BScN program after successfully completing the bridging courses in the first two semesters, provided they achieve a minimum 65% grade in each bridge course.
The accelerated option allows students to finish the two-semester Bridge program plus Years 3 and 4 of the BScN degree in six consecutive semesters, enabling faster achievement of academic objectives.
Working RPNs will appreciate the program's adaptable structure, featuring predominantly online theory courses alongside clinical placements designed to develop RN entry-to-practice competencies.
