As an Early Learning and Child Care specialist, you'll have the opportunity to influence young minds and provide them with a solid foundation. You'll discover engaging ways to interact with children through games and activities while teaching essential skills and creating a nurturing environment. Your training will cover working with infants through eight-year-olds, with applications extending to children up to age twelve. This program offers flexible scheduling options, available both full-time and part-time either on-campus or through community-based outreach programs.Online Option: Take courses digitally while completing your practical training locally.Weekend Format: Attend classes in Red Deer on Saturdays (two sessions per course), allowing you to finish the program within two years.Hands-on ExperiencePractical application is crucial in this profession. Throughout your studies, you'll undertake two field placements in early childhood settings to bridge classroom knowledge with real-world practice.This program counts toward the two-year Early Learning and Child Care Diploma at Red Deer Polytechnic.Graduates may qualify for advanced standing in related university programs. A minimum of 65% in: ELA 30-2, or equivalent or
A minimum score of 250 on the Reading component, 250 on the Writing component and 5 on the WritePlacer Test. or
Previous completion of three College-level courses with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
English Language Proficiency
