Queen's University's MES program offers advanced education in Environmental Sustainability through an interdisciplinary lens, examining enduring environmental transformations, how present choices affect future outcomes, and humanity's profound reliance on ecological health.
This graduate program adheres to conventional academic progression. Students must complete four half-credit courses, undertake original research leading to a thesis, and successfully defend their work within a two-year timeframe.
The Environmental Studies program at Queen's delivers specialized graduate education in sustainability, employing cross-disciplinary methods to investigate persistent environmental shifts, the relationship between current actions and future consequences, and how human welfare fundamentally depends on ecosystem integrity. With increasing demand for environmental expertise across sectors, students seek advanced qualifications for careers in private, public, and non-profit organizations. Our curriculum addresses this need through collaborative initiatives spanning multiple Queen's and RMC departments such as Biology, Business Administration, Chemistry, Development Studies, Engineering, Geography, and related fields.
