The Concurrent Education program equips high school graduates with the skills to become certified teachers (B.Ed.). While students complete their Arts & Science coursework at their respective institutions, the Queen's and Queen's-Trent programs operate independently. Transferring between programs is not allowed. Admissions to the Queen’s-Trent program have been paused since the 2014-15 academic year. Upon successful program completion, the Faculty registrar (Director of Student and Support Services) notifies the Ontario College of Teachers. Aspiring Ontario teachers must officially register with the College to receive their teaching certification. During their first year, participants choose between Primary-Junior (JK-Grade 6) or Intermediate-Senior (Grades 7-12) specialization. Typically, students focus entirely on completing their B.A.(Hons), B.F.H., B.Mus., or B.Sc.(Hons) degree during their fourth year. The program includes eight weeks of school placements in years 1-3, followed by 18 weeks combining school-based and alternative practicum experiences in the final year.
