Queen's Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Art) Program accepts just 30 students annually, offering an intimate visual arts education. Students receive rigorous studio instruction from practicing professionals and visiting artists from around the world, combined with Art History lectures and seminars. The program's low student-to-faculty ratio fosters an engaging learning environment centered on three core disciplines: painting, printmaking, and sculpture/new media. State-of-the-art studios and workshops provide an inspiring space for artistic development and exploration. Students may participate in optional excursions to exhibitions and workshops, including yearly visits to New York City.
Building on Queen's academic legacy and vibrant creative atmosphere, the program offers the perfect environment for visual arts education. Our curriculum integrates technical skills, theoretical knowledge, and critical analysis across four interconnected disciplines: painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture/new media. These areas are treated as expansive, interconnected fields with diverse methodologies. Studio practice is enhanced by Art History coursework and various electives.
Applicants must have the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), and six 4U/4M courses. Students must have a minimum of three 4U courses, except where stated otherwise. Students in francophone schools may offer the equivalent of English 4U.
