Sociologists explore the workings of societies. Our research spans all aspects of social existence, from intimate connections to institutional operations and international relations, extending to worldwide networks. Renowned for expertise in criminology, legal studies, media (including information systems and surveillance), and social equity, our department offers comprehensive insights. Queen's Sociology program provides a deep understanding of societal frameworks and their impact on individual actions, societal challenges, daily experiences, political systems, and cultural expressions. The curriculum investigates how different societal factors shape stability and transformation, ultimately affecting our actions and perspectives. Offering varied courses from Surveillance Studies to Crime Sociology and Consumer Culture analysis, our department is particularly distinguished for its focus on Criminal Justice, Media and Surveillance Studies, and Social Inequality and Justice.
