The School of Kinesiology and Health Studies (SKHS) faculty and instructors are dedicated to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and excellent educational atmosphere. Our latest efforts have concentrated on enhancing the "learning culture" within SKHS by implementing research-backed techniques to boost academic achievement and learning outcomes. SKHS aims to advance wellness across all levels—from cellular to societal—through education, research, and community involvement, all while maintaining an environment of inclusivity, compassion, and mutual respect.
The Health Studies program offers a social science-focused curriculum examining the multifaceted elements impacting physical, psychological, and social wellness. Utilizing social science perspectives, students investigate health determinants, health promotion methods, policy development, behavioral modifications, disease patterns, and program design and assessment. The curriculum also encourages critical analysis of health through socio-cultural lenses, examining its connections to equity issues and societal structures of influence and marginalization.
