The Human Service Work Diploma curriculum addresses the growing roles and changing professional expectations for graduates of non-degree social service programs. Developed through broad community input, its learning goals align with provincially recognized practice standards. This full-time program requires significant commitment, with approximately 18 weekly classroom hours plus daily independent study and assignments. Participants must take ownership of their education while engaging actively in class. Graduates will support vulnerable and marginalized populations, necessitating a client-focused approach, self-reflection, and adaptability. Prospective students should demonstrate emotional, physical, cognitive, and psychological readiness. The program teaches essential skills for fostering healthy relationships, effective communication, and community inclusion for at-risk individuals.
