Gain skills to support children and adolescents facing social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties linked to mental health concerns, cognitive differences, neurodevelopmental conditions, economic disadvantages, traumatic experiences, or legal system involvement. As Child and Youth Care professionals, you'll collaborate with vulnerable young individuals and their families across diverse environments, helping them overcome obstacles while fostering their inherent strengths to promote meaningful transformation. The program examines, applies, and integrates multiple research-backed therapeutic approaches grounded in concepts of risk and resilience, ecological systems theory, relationship-based practice, developmental psychology, family dynamics, equity principles, and special needs education. Our curriculum prioritizes hands-on learning, community engagement, and initiatives that encourage social entrepreneurship, innovative solutions, and positive societal impact.
OSSD or equivalent with Grade 12 English (C or U)
Applicants with previous postsecondary education such as a degree or diploma from an accredited university or college in the area of Human Services, Education, Interdisciplinary Studies, Social Sciences, Psychology or Sociology can apply to our accelerated delivery which can be completed in 16 consecutive months - studies begin in September, with graduation projected for December of the following academic year.
Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older), and home school applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants, who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED, and equivalency testing.
