NAIT offers two distinct but connected full-time diploma programs in Radio and Television. These intensive two-year programs employ innovative teaching methods, emphasizing practical, hands-on learning experiences.

Students gain real-world experience by performing typical station roles at NAIT's campus radio station (NR92) and television newsroom (NAIT NewsWatch). Working with professional digital equipment in modern studios, you'll develop essential skills in writing, technical operations, communication, and production.

Our faculty consists of seasoned industry professionals, and our program enjoys national recognition. NAIT graduates frequently appear on airwaves and screens throughout North America. The curriculum delivers expert instruction from broadcasting veterans and practical training in key areas including: On-air presentation, News and sports writing/reporting, Interview techniques, Advertising copy, Sound production, Promotional strategies, Sales and marketing, Digital media, Introductory video production, and Web content development.

  • 63% in Grade 12 Language Arts (English 30-2)
    Grade 11 Mathematics (Math 20-2)*
    Grade 11 Social Studies (Social Studies 20-2)*

*One media or fine arts course from Grade 11 or Grade 12, may be used as a substitute for the Math or Social Studies requirement. Only one substitution is permitted.

English Language Proficiency:

IELTS Academic: 6.0 in each section

NAIT’s ELP Exam: 73% or “B” in each section

Canadian Language Benchmarks Assessment (CLB) or Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Assessment (CLBPA): 8.0 in each section

CAEL or CAEL Online: 60 overall score

Cambridge English Language Assessment: B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency: 169 in each section

TOEFL iBT; Effective Fall 2025: 70 overall score, with a minimum score of 17 in each section

Duolingo: 115 overall score, with a minimum score of 100 in each section

Michigan English Test (MET): 59 overall score

PTE Academic or PTE Academic online: 58 overall score
