Focusing on core engineering principles alongside advanced equipment and analytical methods, the Mechanical Engineering Technology program equips you with adaptable, transferable skills to pursue a career as a mechanical engineering technologist across diverse sectors including oil and gas, agriculture, and pulp and paper. You'll explore design principles, process planning, and analytical methods while gaining solid theoretical foundations through courses like Dynamics, Machine Element Design, CAD Drafting, and Plant Engineering.
Key competencies you'll develop include: designing mechanical parts, systems, and assemblies; specifying machining operations and production techniques for metal components; cost estimation for fabrication, pressure vessels, construction projects, and piping systems; machinery selection and assessment; facility layout planning for offices, warehouses, and plants; production efficiency analysis; and quality management methodologies using modern control tools
