The Digital Media and IT (DMIT) program takes a broad, interdisciplinary approach. Covering diverse career paths from business analysis to visual design, this forward-thinking program equips you to address industry needs while cultivating skills that match your personal strengths and interests.

As an Information Technology (IT) System Administrator, your role may involve deploying and managing data infrastructure while delivering valuable technological solutions to organizations.

This program provides foundational knowledge for entering this in-demand field. Within the IT System Administrator specialization, you'll master planning, installing, updating, and configuring operating systems alongside critical software applications and services, including: core network services (DHCP, DNS, Active Directory), security updates and antivirus management, as well as web, SharePoint, deployment, and remote desktop servers.

The curriculum covers evaluating data network infrastructure needs based on performance, resource allocation, scalability, security, usability, and maintenance. You'll also gain expertise in selecting, procuring, installing, and configuring hardware to meet these specifications.

Upon completion, you'll possess the expertise to define and document software configurations, system roles, features, and parameters needed to sustain stable and efficient IT operations. Thanks to DMIT's strong industry partnerships, students can access various co-op placements. Numerous employers provide paid work terms that offer hands-on experience in specialized fields, while also serving as a talent pipeline for many organizations.
