The BPHE program offers students a well-rounded education through a mix of classroom instruction, hands-on labs, interactive seminars, physical training, research projects, independent study, and community internships. The curriculum incorporates both on-campus and off-campus learning experiences. Distinctive features of Nipissing's BPHE program include: Applied Physical Education courses - mandatory active participation in sports and activities each semester Options range from traditional sports like soccer, basketball, and hockey to outdoor pursuits such as canoeing, winter camping, and mountain biking Community Leadership Placements - during their third and fourth years, students work with local health and fitness organizations (including schools, medical facilities, sports teams, and rehab centers) to cultivate leadership skills and establish professional connections Customizable academic pathways - students can tailor their studies toward Physical and Health Education teaching/coaching careers or focus on becoming health and exercise professionals in fields like Kinesiology and related healthcare areas.

Qualification Requirements

The following qualifications are the minimum required for admission consideration to Nipissing University. Applicants are required to achieve a high overall standing in their studies and must include the appropriate program specific prerequisites depending on the degree program to which they have applied. Please note that possession of the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to an applicant's program of interest and/or Nipissing University.

International applicants are not eligible for consideration under Nipissing University’s Mature Student Admission Policy.

Common Credentials: British Patterned Education; CAPE (Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations); French Patterned Education; International Baccalaureate (IB).

Achieve the required proficiency level on one of the following tests of English language proficiency:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): minimum score of 83 (iBT) with a minimum score of 20 in reading, listening and writing, and a minimum score of 22 in speaking.

International English Language Test Service (IELTS): minimum overall band score of 6.5 with a minimum 6.5 in reading, listening, speaking and writing.

Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: minimum overall score of 58 with a minimum score of 56 in speaking, writing, reading and listening.
