The Bachelor of Midwifery is a four-year undergraduate program designed to train students to become qualified Registered Midwives. Through an evidence-based curriculum, students gain expertise in providing care for expectant parents and their families throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal phase.
This full-time program spans four academic years, including mandatory Spring terms. Upon fulfilling all requirements, graduates receive a Bachelor of Midwifery (BMid) degree from Mount Royal University.
BMid graduates emerge as compassionate, skilled, and ethical healthcare providers. They develop the competencies needed for independent midwifery practice while collaborating effectively within healthcare teams. Equipped with foundational knowledge and clinical skills, graduates deliver personalized, safe care aligned with evidence-based guidelines and regulatory requirements. They understand and operate within the professional boundaries set by the College of Midwives of Alberta. Focused on client-centered care, graduates work individually or collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes during pregnancy, delivery, and newborn care, while maintaining awareness of their professional scope.
